Its initial goal was to build a 1W amp with a basic preamp and a power section using the 6AK6, which is a 7-pin miniature power pentode. Hi, I just built a guitar amp out of an old stereo radio from the sixties. this uses one 12AX7 for the preamp section (in series) and two 6AQ5a tubes in parallel on the output. it works. clean sound until I get about 1/4th or so up in volume, and then it starts breaking up. that sweet ...Tube 6AK5 or Röhre 6AK5 ID3632, Vacuum Pentode, Miniatur-7-Pin-Base B7G, USA 1940 and RF/IF-Stage shown. Radio tubes are valves.I also added a 100k pot in series with a 22k resistor to adjust the nfb. I also added a dpst switch on G3 of the tubes to be able to use 6AK6 (1.1w) 6AM5 (3 watts) or 6AQ5 (4 watts). I just use pin 1 only for G1 and switch G3 pin 7 to either pin 2 (cathode) on the 6AK6 or leave pin 7 open for 6BM5/6AQ5.
